I want to tell you about my childhood summers growing up. 🌞
（子どもの頃の夏の思い出について話そう。）
I visited my grandparents in almost every summer. 🏡
（ほぼ毎年、夏になると祖父母の家に遊びに行ってたんだ。）
And thanks to my mother, I was always enrolled in the local school near my grandma’s home for 3 weeks. 🏫
（そして母のおかげで、毎年おばあちゃんの家の近くの地元の学校に3週間通うことになってた。）
I honestly was not thrilled because I had to spend my precious summer break at school every day from morning to afternoon. 😩
（貴重な夏休みを毎日朝から夕方まで勉強して過ごすから正直うれしくなかった。）
This was also uncomfortable for me because schools in Japan are different from American schools in many ways and I felt shy around my Japanese classmates.
（それに、日本の学校はアメリカの学校とはいろいろな点で違っていて、慣れない環境で日本人のクラスメートとは少し距離も感じてしまいました。）
But there were definitely fun and meaningful experiences made.
（でも、楽しくて意味のある経験も間違いなくできたと思う。）
Even though I was from America, they treated me like any other Japanese friend and that meant a lot to me.
（私がアメリカ出身であっても、みんな私のことを普通の日本人の友達のように接してくれて、本当にうれしかった！）
I made fun memories with them, riding bicycles together to game centers and taking purikura photos together. 📸
（自転車で一緒に走ってゲームセンターに行ったり、プリクラを撮ったりと、友達と過ごした時間が思い出になった。）
I loved inviting my friends to my grandma’s home and introducing them to my grandma too. 🍵🏠
（友達をおばあちゃんの家に招いて、おばあちゃんに紹介するのも好きだったな。）
We were able to stay friends even though they only saw me for 3 weeks once a year.
（年にたった3週間しか会えなかったのに、友達関係が続いていたのはとても素敵なことだと思う。）
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to keep contact after middle school since social media didn’t exist back then.
（残念ながら中学を卒業した後は連絡が取れなくなった。あの頃はまだSNSもなく。）
To this day, I’m not sure how my friends are doing. 🥺
（今でも、友達がどうしているのかはわからない。）
But I hope they are well and I really hope I’ll get the chance to see them again someday!
（でも、元気でいてくれることを願う。そして、いつかまた再会できたらいいなと思う！）

②「Stay friends」（友達のままでいる）
「We were able to stay friends even though they only saw me for 3 weeks once a year.」（年にたった3週間しか会えなかったのに、友達関係が続いていたのはとても素敵なことだと思う。）
「Stay friends」 は、時間がたっても友情が続いていること、関係が変わらないことを表すときに使います。
